Sounds of the Studio 08:19

This is a reaaaaaaally good one, folks.
Ariana covering Imogen Heap, throwback Foster the People, a few discovers from the 2019 Lollapalooza line-up and to end it all, a very scarypoolparty. Enjoy.

Xx

My Top 5 go-to podcasts (RIGHT this minute)

Let’s just jump right in to it. These are my go-to podcasts to listen to while I’m in the studio and a few summer additions I’ve found recently that I unapologetically binged (the last one, especially) for two days straight. I hope you enjoy! Xx, Allison

Justin Long ‘Life is Short’We all know and love Justin Long as the goofy, sidekick character in some of the 2000’s funniest films (Dodegeball, hello.) But I’m bringing you Justin Long in a whole new light: Podcast Justin. And let me tell you, he is DELIGHTFUL. This show brings on celebrity comrades of Long’s from friendships he’s built in Hollywood over his 20+ year career. It’s all about diving in to what makes each guest tick, their outlook on life, hard hitting questions like ‘what’s your most used emoji?’ and YES, even Kevin Bacon comes on the show. Produced by Christian Long (Justin’s younger brother) with commercials narrated by Justin himself in character voice, it’s a light listen that you can enjoy on a long drive or when you need a laugh. He’s the nicest dude on the planet.

The Skinny Confidential ‘Him & Her’ — This show is for anyone interested in beauty tips, entrepreneurial how-to, relationship advice, smoothie recipes, you NAME IT. I’ve gotten so much helpful information from this podcast it’s unreal. Hosted by husband and wife duo Lauryn + Michael Bosstick, who have A+ banter and have actually known each other since middle school. As pioneers in their respective industries (blogging + business building) they not only know their stuff but they are are just fun to listen to. There, I said it.

KINZCOWORLDHost Kinzie Madsen is a branding guru and social media whiz. Her off-beat approach to podcasting will keep you on your toes and leave you with a laid-back, can-do attitude towards building your company. I’ve been featured on her show before (you can listen here!) and I’m telling you, you’ll feel like you can take your business anywhere after tuning in to a few episodes of her podcast. She’s a bada$$ 20-something who will make believe that you can do anything with the right mindset. A weekly listen for me.

Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Mefrom the family of NPR, WWDTM is broadcast live every week in Chicago, featuring celebrity guests and call-in contestants from around the country. Focusing on recent news and pop culture, it will surely make you laugh and make you feel informed! As an avid lover + listener of NPR (check out This American Life too!) I think we all can agree this show is a good one. This one is best to listen to when new episodes are released so the news and questions are current so you can play along too!

The Root of Evil — WARNING: This show is not for everyone. Coming from someone who loves a murder mystery, I felt myself feeling bit uneasy at parts of this 12-episode long podcast. However, if you like… gore, insane families, history, the 1940’s and 60’s, and the Black Dahlia… this can work for you. Narrated by the granddaughters of George Hodel (the all-but-convicted murderer of Elizabeth Short aka the Black Dahlia) who explore and unwrap every last detail of the case, including the lives of living family members of the Hodel family. You won’t be able to stop listening! And just when you think it’s gotten as weird as possible… it hasn’t. Trust me.
